This photo gives me chills, but in quite a good way. It's as if the emotions of loneliness, long away glory, and carelessness wraps itself into one.
The setting, even without the ethereal being on the couch is an overwhelmingly beautiful scene. An elaborant tapestry in the back, old yet elegant furniture create a sense of what used to be. The petals and tea set create haunting beauty. Plus the book captures my attention. Is it the secrets kept of this place?
Obviously the woman is the main event. Quite beautiful she is, too. But she seems ethereal, almost too good. Like a ghost, still living in her house of dreams though long, long gone.
This photo is quite complex and compelling, and I have enjoyed viewing and critiqueing this beautiful piece of art.
Photography never tends to strike me heavily. I can always find one thing I like about a particular photograph, but most of the ones I see lack certain artistic qualities that I believe you nailed. This particular photograph has a composition is very well thought out. I believe the model, who is beautiful by the way, is a very good distance from the camera. The position of her dress is wonderful. I also love how the surrounding objects are somewhat collected around her. They're mostly of light color, like her dress, making her look like she brightens the area a little. There's great contrast to this. She kind of has a glow about her, editing aside.
You could interpret this image in so many ways. I feel there could be a great sense of loneliness, but she doesn't seem like she's despairing over that. Or, she's a specter, making her rounds. Or, she is lonely, but lost in her own mind too much so to care, and therefore, content. In denial that she's queen of an empty house. I know that there could be a very somber but beautiful story behind this photo if someone had a good enough imagination.
A haunting and wonderful image indeed. Beautiful work.
wow it's so hauntingly beautiful!! I love everything about it, the background, the way the dress flows over the sofa, the model's pose and expression. The rose petals adds a nice touch to it too.
